Davin Malmqvist
USEF Judge
Born just outside of Toronto, Canada, Davin was introduced to riding at the age of 8 when his family relocated to England. Davin bought his first horse off the track and brought him through the pre-green hunters up to the jumpers. After a couple of years in the jumper ring, he began boarding at Spruce Meadows.
During one of the indoor shows at Spruce Meadows, he volunteered to help and found himself announcing his first show. This led to a 27-year career as horse show announcer, Senior USEF Jumper Judge, Senior Equestrian Canada Jumper Judge, and “recorded” Equestrian Canada Hunter/Equitation Judge. Announcing and judging is Davin’s full-time occupation, working over 40 shows per year. Although he does not get a chance to ride anymore, he still has that love of horses that he believes never goes away.
